CAMDEN TRIUMPH OVER BERGEN CC
Cougars get back in the W column against Region XIX foe
Blackwood, NJ -- Camden MBB secures victory with late, 2H surge
Camden County CC MBB (7-3) bounced back in convincing fashion Tuesday night, securing a determined 10-point victory over Bergen Community College (5-8).
The Cougars entered the matchup looking to respond after a difficult previous outing in which they surrendered a second-half lead, and they delivered exactly the performance they needed.
CCC played with purpose, controlling the tempo of the match and played at their usual, methodical pace.
The Cougars built steady momentum throughout the first half which allowed them to go into the halftime break up 32-30.
While the affair was back and forth throughout most of the 2H, Camden settled in and built a lead late.
The Cougars refused to allow Bergen the kind of late run that hurt them in their last game and focused on making key plays to seal this victory at home.
Freshman Guard, Zha'Mere Crawford (Wilmington, DE) put together an efficient night, scoring 19 points on 6-8 shooting from the field and 6-7 from the charity stripe. He also contributed 3 rebounds and 5 assists.
Sophomore Forward, Mikey Campbell (Fayetteville, NC) finished with 16 points on 8-13 shooting along with 4 rebounds and 2 stocks.
Balanced scoring (18 bench points), improved ball movement, and key defensive stops down the stretch defined the win. The Cougars composure in the final minutes helped secure the 10-point margin and underscored the team's growth after the recent setback.
With the victory, the Cougars (7-3) move forward with renewed confidence and a chance to build on their resilient response as they continue through their schedule.
CCC MBB will travel to Harrisburg Area CC on Saturday, December 13 for their first road matchup in a couple weeks. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00pm.
