CAMDEN FALL IN THRILLER TO BROOKDALE
CCC MBB (6-3) drop home game on GW FG
Blackwood, NJ -- CCC MBB fall in heartbreaking fashion to Brookdale
The Camden County College men's basketball team saw a double-digit lead slip away Saturday afternoon, falling to Brookdale CC in a thriller.
CCC came out focused, controlling the pace on both ends of the floor as they built an early double-digit advantage midway through the 1H. Their defensive pressure forced Brookdale into turnovers and missed shots, creating opportunities for them to capitalize.
As the half came to an end, BCC would eventually close the gap as Camden went into halftime up 33-28.
After halftime, Camden played well, sustaintaining their lead for most of the half. Brookdale was undeterred and remained in the game as they continually chipped away at the deficit. Their play would ensure this contest would come down to the wire as every possession proved to be vitally important on each side.
However, after eventually relinquishing the lead, Camden found themselves down by one point with 12.1 seconds remaining with a chance to convert a potential game-winning field goal.
They failed to convert, as their 3-pt shot attempt went through the basket but was waved off by the official due to being out of bounds – an egregious end-of-game error. Brookdale would go on to get fouled, make both FT's and extend the lead to three, 73-70.
With one more chance remaining and minimal time on the clock, the Cougars failed to get a shot off as they turned the ball over as the buzzer sounded – sealing a painful defeat.
Freshman Forward, Istavan Norwood (Dover, DE) continues his strong campaign as he played well in defeat, registering 22 points (10-12), 7 rebounds and 2 blocked shots.
Camden County MBB (6-3) will return to action tomorrow, looking to put this game behind them and regain momentum as they face regional foe, Bergen CC (5-7) at home (7PM).
