CAMDEN WBB FALL AT CCP, 61-48
Lady Cougars comeback bid comes up short
Blackwood, NJ -- Lady Cougars
CCC WBB (12-10) battled hard on the road but ultimately came up short in their matchup at the Community College of Philadelphia (13-5), falling 61-48 in a game that tested the Lady Cougars on both ends of the floor.
The loss marked a challenging outing for Camden as they faced a determined Community College of Philadelphia squad that has now won 4 of their last 5 games. The Lions used balanced scoring and strong defensive team play to control key stretches of the game, particularly in the second and third quarters.
It was a rough shooting afternoon for Camden as they were held to 48 total points and just 4 in the 2Q alone. Despite several competitive possessions and spirited effort, the Lady Cougars were unable to find their offensive rhythm until late in the contest, scoring 18 points in the fourth. Nonetheless, the 14-point halftime deficit prove too much to overcome.
While the road loss was a disappointment, CCC WBB remains focused on finishing their season strong and holding their place within the Region XIX standings.
Sophomore Guard, Clara Pons de vall Ruiz (Vilassar de Mar, Spain) continued her strong play of late, registering 15 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists & 2 steals.
The Lady Cougars now set their sights on cross-town foe, Rowan College of South Jersey-Cumberland next, as they look to conclude the season on a high note and prepare for their last matchup, a non-region battle against Northampton.
Camden (12-10) will travel tomorrow, 2/9 to Cumberland (0-16) to close out the conference season. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00pm.
