CAMDEN WBB DROP ROAD GAME AT NORTHAMPTON
Lady Cougars fall after slow start
Blackwood, NJ -- Lady Cougars fall after slow start
CCC WBB (7-8) team dropped a 58–43 decision to Northampton (11-4) on Wednesday night. The loss was the second in the new year for the Lady Cougars after winning four in a row previously.
It was a back and forth affair for most of the first quarter before Northampton built a six-point lead late. The 2Q was similar in that regard as the Lady Cougars produced 10 points to their opponents 15, going into halftime down 29-18.
Although the second half of play was close and competitive, the Lady Cougars were unable to sustain their positive momentum and get over the hump. The early lead Northampton created allowed them continue to control the matchup although both teams scored the same amount of points in the 4Q (14).
Northampton's positional size and defensive pressure was an issue for Camden as they struggled to rebound and create second chance opportunities. Nonetheless, while Camden fought hard on both ends of the floor, it was a challenge to build the requisite amount of positive energy to match their opponent and ultimately proved too much for the Lady Cougars to overcome.
As a result, Northampton was able to maintain its advantage throughout the conest, sealing the home win.
Despite the loss, Sophomore Guard Clara Pons de vall Ruiz (Vilassar de Mar, Spain) and Freshman Guard Angela Karamasakis (Washington, Township, NJ) combined for 30 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists & 8 steals.
Up next, Camden (7-8) will regroup and continue conference play, aiming to bounce back with improved consistency on both ends of the court.
The team's next game presents a crucial opportunity to get back in the win column as conference play continues. Camden will host Sussex on 1/17 at Noon in the Papiano Memorial Gymnasium.
