CAMDEN WBB DROP NON-CONFERENCE MATCHUP WITH ALLEGANY
Lady Cougars falter at home in another tight battle
Blackwood, NJ -- Lady Cougars fall short at home, 55-51
In another hard-fought contest on Thursday, Camden County College women's basketball team suffered a non-conference loss to Allegany College of Maryland, 55-51.
The Cougars pushed the Trojans in the first half, partly due to their sharp ball movement and timely baskets. Although both teams were trading baskets, it was the Lady Cougars who were able to create and sustain a slim lead going into halftime, 23-19
However, after halftime, halting Allegany's offense proved to be too difficult to overcome.
In the second half of play, Allegany's offense was difficult to keep in check as they scored 16 and 20 points in the 3rd and 4th quarters respectively, en route to 36 total points to Camden's 28.
In totality, the Lady Cougars did not have a great overall outing in terms of outside shooting, and also attempted just three free-throws for the entire contest.
Sophomore Forward, Brianna Kemble (Blackwood, NJ) scored 14 points on 7-13 shooting from the field. She also added 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 5 steals and a blocked shot. Clara Pons de vall Ruiz (Vilassar de Mar, Spain) contributed 6 points, 6 assists and 5 steals.
Although the final score favored Allegany, Camden showed perseverance, which allowed them to keep the score close and produce 17 points in the 4th after just 11 in the 3rd.
The team will look to build on the positives from this game as it heads into its next matchup at home.
The Lady Cougars will look to get back in the win column as they host Passaic CC, Saturday 11/22 at Noon.
