MEN'S BASKETBALL WIN IN OT, BEAT RIVAL; GLOUCESTER
Camden start season 2-0
Blackwood, NJ -- CCC Men's Basketball Outlast Gloucester in OT
The Camden County College men's basketball team earned a victory over rival; Gloucester this past Saturday afternoon in a thrilling over-time matchup.
There was back and forth action throughout the entire 1st half, with both teams looking to gain any advantage before the break. While the Cougars were ready for the challenge, it was Gloucester that was able to gain the lead before halftime, 31-35.
However, at the start of the third quarter, CCC was focused and ready to set the tone for the rest of the contest.
Led by Sophomore Forward, Mikey Campbell (Fayetteville, NC) and Freshman Guard, Ayden Copestick (Deptford, NJ) Camden's play improved in the second half, as both players made timely plays for their team.
Campbell was steady and efficient, scoring 22 points (7-13) and securing six rebounds while also leading his teammates. He's been the driving force of the Cougars offense, an offensive attack that is scoring close to 85 points per contest.
Copestick was impressive in just his second college game, providing clutch shooting off the bench and another reliable ball-handler for Coach Lou Abbattista. Ayden converted 4-5 3PA and made 7/9 free-throws en route to 20 points. His outside shooting was momentum shifting and really aided the Cougars effort in this one.
Camden was able to score 15 points in OT which proved to be too much for the Roadrunners to overcome.
The victory boosts Camden's momentum heading into their third matchup of the year.
CCC will host Community College of Philadelphia on 11/11 @ 7PM.
