Perrella To Take Charge of Cougars Men's Soccer Fall 2021
Camden County College would like to announce the hiring of Matt Perrella as the next Men's Soccer Head Coach following the departure of Kevin Nuss.
July 1, 2021
Matt Perrella served as an assistant under Nuss for the Cougars 2020 (Spring) National Championship final appearance.
"I am thankful and excited to be next in line to lead the program here at Camden C.C. I hope to continue the tradition of winning and deliver a great playing experience to all of the players that call Camden CC Men's Soccer their home."
Before joining Nuss at Camden, Perrella served as an assistant at Drexel University (Women's, NCAA D1) and with the Ocean City Nor'Easters (Men's, USL2). Perrella also has experience from his time serving with the Matabeleland F.A, an international team (CoNIFA) that represents a separate group originally from Zimbabwe. Additionally, Matt helps organize and coach at Washington United and Washington Township Soccer Club locally.
As a player Perrella spent 4 years at Rider University (NCAA, D1) and went on to get his Master's in Business Administration from Durham University in England. While playing overseas he was scouted by Newcastle United which led to trials in Italy, France, Latvia and Cyprus. In the US, Perrella spent time with North Carolina FC (USL Championship) and Sporting KC (MLS) and signed with Bethlehem Steel FC (USL Championship). In 2017 Perrella signed with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds (USL Championship) where he made eight appearances during his spell with the club.
"As a player there was always an emphasis to compete for 90 minutes and achieve the result and that will be a large part of the philosophy going forward, compete and earn each result, do our best to make the game very difficult for the opponent while making critical moments in the game ourselves."
Perrella will look to begin in August with pre-season for the Cougars before getting the season underway this September.
